Cumberland Athletic Club
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome Cumberland Athletic Club as one of its newest members. Dubbed the Upper Cumberland’s newest upscale fitness & sports destination, they will open to the public on December 11th. Cumberland Athletic Club is located at 14O Davis Street and is owned and operated by Travis and Erica Poindexter.
The club’s upcoming website will have further details on training schedules, daily workouts, nutritional information and events. Initial fitness & sports membership packages at Cumberland Athletic Club are:
Level 1~ $35 per month- 24 Hr. access to the Cardio & Circuit Strength Zone and Studio Training Room
Level 2~ $50 per month- Access to all included in Level 1 plus the Outdoor Fitness Zone and Basketball Courts
Level 3~ $70 per month- Access to all included in Levels 1 and 2 plus the Cross Core Training Area (during open gym times)
*Level 4~ in development*- Access to all included in Levels 1, 2 and 3 plus expanded access to the Cross Core Training Area (during open gym times and live training classes)
Caney Fork Farms
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce welcomes new member, Caney Fork Farms. By joining the Caney Fork Farms CSA and you’ll enjoy ultra-fresh vegetables for up to 30 weeks from May to November. Each week, you’ll also be able to add-on items like pasture raised meats, gourmet mushrooms, flower bouquets, as well as additional produce for canning or freezing. Caney Fork Farms believes that Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between farmers and people that love good, clean food. As a subscriber, every meal you cook supports an alternative, locally based model of agriculture where growers and consumers share the risks and rewards of sustainable food production.
Caney Fork Farms’ mission is to inspire others with living proof that carbon farming benefits farmers, the community, and the environment. We aspire to be a collective of farms in middle Tennessee that use carbon farming practices to provide healthy, affordable food that prioritizes people and planet. Stephanie McCaleb – Mary Kay Cosmetics – Crowning Edge Pageant Consulting
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member, Stephanie McCaleb. Stephanie began her Mary Kay business in October of 2012 and is a Future Sales Director. A graduate of Lebanon High School, she attended Cumberland University and has worked in Wilson County Government. Stephanie graduated from Mary Kay University in 2014. Her goal is to continue building her Mary Kay team with strong, motivated, Godly, women who want to make a difference. In 2013, Stephanie began offering pageant consulting thru her business, Crowning Touch Pageant Consulting. No stranger to beauty pageants, she won her first national title at the age of twelve, Junior Miss American Sweetheart. In 2006, she was voted Most Photogenic, Most Physically Fit and sold the most ad pages in the Mrs. Tennessee Pageant. In 2011, she was crowned Ambassador Queen in the United States Mrs. Pageant held in Myrtle Beach. She was crowned National Ms. American Dream in Orlando in 2013. Most recently, Stephanie was announced as the new National Mrs. in 2016. Chad Williams
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce welcomes new member Chad Willliams. Williams is a candidate for the Republican nomination for Tennessee’s 40th District House of Representatives. He is a Smith County native who was raised just outside the Lancaster community and has resided in the 40th district a majority of his life. He is a proud business owner and civic contributor. Currently, Chad is the owner of the Lebanon Antique Mall and attends Tennessee Tech University. He studies political science with a concentration in legal studies. Upon graduation in the spring of 2018, he will be furthering his education in law school.
Williams is an active member of the Southside Lions Club of Gordonsville – an affiliate of Lions Club International. He also holds membership in two Masonic Lodges in Smith County (New Middleton #249 and Carthage #14). Williams attends Lancaster United Methodist where he is active in leadership and serves the role of treasurer. Williams will be touring the 40th district, which consists of Smith, Trousdale and portions of DeKalb and Sumner counties. He stated, “I am really excited to begin meeting with the people across the district. The Smith County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome one of its newest members, Hassler Law Firm. Hassler Law Firm is located at 226 Main Street North in Carthage, on the second floor of the Bass & Bass Building. the Hassler Law Firm is a general practice firm that serves the Upper Cumberland. The firm’s areas of practice include Business Formation, Contracts, Estates, Landlord/Tenant, Mediation, Probate, Real Estate, School Law, Social Security/Disability, and Wills.
Jeremy Hassler started his career as an educator after graduating from Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He later earned his Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership from the same university. During his stint as a teacher, he taught 8th-12th grade Social Studies both in the classroom and in an on-line environment. He also spent several years assisting high school marching bands as a drum major coach, assistant director, and a semester as an interim-director. After teaching for a time, he decided to go back to school and attended the Nashville School of Law. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Founder’s Award for obtaining the highest GPA in his graduating class. Originally from Crossville, Jeremy and his wife Kristi (a Smith County native) reside in Carthage with their two daughters.

Smith County Family Medical, LLC
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome one of its newest members, Smith County Family Medical, LLC.
Kim Gregory was born and raised in Smith County. She lives in Carthage, Tennessee with her husband, Steven. They have 2 children, Owen and Delaney. Kim loves helping people and enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Tennessee Technological University in 2002. She worked in Neonatal ICU and Surgery at St. Thomas Midtown, in Nashville, for several years while earning her advanced practice degree.
A graduate again of Tennessee Technological University in 2008, Kim earned her master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is board certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Kim has spent over 8 years as a nurse practitioner in Smith County treating patients of all ages.
In August 2016, Kim purchased and started her own private family practice. She is thrilled to operate Smith County Family Medical right here in Smith County and serve her community. She strives to provide holistic, evidence-based care to patients of all ages, pediatrics to elderly. Kim believes that one of the greatest attributes a healthcare provider can possess is a strong ability to listen to patients. Her daily commitment is to listen to patients, speak the truth to them, and heal them – body, mind, and spirit.
Smith County Family Medical is a small family practice located in Gordonsville, TN. The practice consists of Kim and her experienced staff. Rachel Boles is her nurse with 20 years of experience in the medical field. Heather Johnson is also a nurse/front office staff with 15 years of experience in the medical field. Tami Bailey, who has recently joined the practice, is responsible for billing and accounts receivables. She also has 20 years’ experience in the industry.

Dr. Bill McConkey
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome one of its newest members, Dr. Bill McConkey. Bill McConkey is a retired educator, and still a corporate trainer. public speaker/humorist and political consultant.
Bill McConkey taught graduate and undergraduate courses in leadership, organizational communication and interpersonal communication, and American Government and Politics. Dr. McConkey received his BS and MS degrees in the Social Sciences from Illinois State University in 1964 and 1965. He received his Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Florida State University in 1994, at the age of 52.
He has worked for several government agencies, including the OMB within Executive Office of the President of the United States, and the U.S. Department of Commerce, and for the Governors of Illinois and Alaska. He worked primarily in military and economic and energy development programs.
Bill McConkey also understands the private sector, having worked as a line cook, farm laborer, janitor, groundskeeper, cashier, commercial fisherman, sports promoter, as the owner and manager of an advertising agency, owner/manager of a research and communication firm, trainer and mentor for international university students working the United States and stocking produce at the Carthage, Walmart.
Bill McConkey is married and has 7 daughters and stepdaughters and 8 grandchildren. He and his wife, Sandy, share their home on Friendship Hollow Road in Defeated, with their Schipperkes. His favorite things to do are cooking, public speaking, working on the farm, hunting, fishing, and writing.
The Cozy Cabin
The Smith County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our newest member The Rustic Cabin. The Rustic Cabin began when neighbors Debbie Thrasher and Maggie Lehman, both moving to Carthage a couple of years ago, talked about wanting to see more shops open on the square in Carthage. Given the opportunity to rent the perfect cozy spot on Main Street, ideas came and a small boutique opened its doors mid November 2016.
The Rustic Cabin sells affordable new women’s clothing sizes small to 3x. You can also find unique gifts, locally made candles, home decor, refinished furniture and affordable jewelry. The ladies of The Rustic Cabin are so excited to meet everyone in town and appreciate all the support that has already been shown. Stop by and see the ladies at ‘The Cabin’ and say hi, have a cup of coffee and browse! The Rustic Cabin is located at 311 Main St. N. Carthage.

The Hebert Family envisioned a family-oriented business that would provide employment opportunities to high school students and help to revitalize downtown Carthage, while maintaining a nostalgic theme.
