The Smith County Industrial Development Board (IDB) is the official body responsible for advancing economic and industrial development throughout Smith County. The Board works collaboratively with local government officials, regional partners, and private industry to recruit new businesses, support the growth of existing industries, and promote job creation and investment within the community.
The Board plays a critical role in:
- Attracting new industrial and commercial investment
- Supporting expansion of existing local industries
- Developing and marketing industrial sites and infrastructure
- Facilitating partnerships that strengthen the local economy
- Providing strategic leadership on long-term economic growth initiatives
Through coordinated planning and targeted development efforts, the Industrial Development Board helps ensure sustainable economic progress and an improved quality of life for the citizens of Smith County.
Role of Board Members
Board members are responsible for providing oversight and direction for industrial development efforts by:
- Reviewing and approving economic development projects and agreements
- Supporting recruitment and retention of industry
- Ensuring responsible stewardship of public resources
- Guiding strategic planning for long-term economic sustainability
